Please join us at our 2016 Primary English conference: Growing Great Writers.  You can book a place here.

What’s on offer?

Very special guests include:

  • Mini Grey  (@Bonzetta1) – inspired and inspiring creator of Traction Man, Biscuit Bear, Hermelin the Mouse Detective, and The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon (not to mention a host of others).

We’ve had the privilege of seeing Mini in action and it is quite something to behold.  The dazzling invention of her books is a perfect reflection of her warm, very funny and uniquely clever take on the world around her – she is quite literally a joy to listen to.  Prepare to be delighted, amused and inspired in ways that you daren’t imagine.  Mini will attend as a keynote speaker.

James is highly-regarded in the field of primary English.  His website is a rich and inspiring resource that promotes high quality reading and writing based on high quality texts.  Through his extensive work as a speaker, adviser and trainer, he has established an excellent, nationwide reputation.  James will deliver a keynote talk and is offering a writing workshop that is not to be missed.

  • Marilyn Brocklehurst (@MarilynBrock)  – Owner of the wondrous Norfolk Children’s Book Centre

Marilyn has kindly agreed to speak at the conference on children’s literature.  Marilyn is a marvelous advocate for children’s literature in all its forms and her passion and knowledge is quite simply captivating. This is a perfect opportunity to benefit from her extensive expertise in this most wonderful field.  The Norfolk Children’s Book Centre’s mobile shop will also be on site offering all manner of temptations including the best of picture books; classic and contemporary fiction from around the world; teacher resources. Book browsing heaven!

  • Nick Handel – Nick is an award-winning former BBC producer/director and the author of Calling the Shots.

Nick will share his expertise in visual media to show how the moving image can inspire, support and develop children’s writing skills. In particular, Nick’s work focuses on the art of composition and of developing story ideas and plots – particularly for those that might otherwise struggle to do so.

Further workshops will explore a range of key considerations for implementing an exemplary writing curriculum and will be tailored to both KS1 and KS2 audiences.

We intend to provide you with all you need to get ready for an exciting new year ahead, where the writing possibilities are endless.
